Science

We have been learning about earth and sun relationships in science.
We learned that temperature is how hot or cold something is.
We learned that a thermometer is a tool that measures temperature.
Here we are measuring the temperatures of ice water, room temperature water, and hot water.
We also learned that there are 4 seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
We learned that the sun stays out the longest in the summer and the shortest amount of time in winter.
We learned that the sun heats the earth.
We learned that scientists make predictions. This group predicted that the sun would warm the water the most.
This group predicted that the sun would warm the sand the most.  Nobody predicted that the sun would warm the soil the most.
We went outside and took the temperature of sand, soil, and water.
We watched our cups and measured the temperature after 10 minutes in the sun.  We recorded our data.
We continued to watch our cups and measured the temperature after 20 minutes in the sun.  We recorded our data again.  We were starting to get hot!
We watched our cups for 10 more minutes and measured the temperature after 30 minutes in the sun.  We recorded our data.
 Here's what we measured!
It was a gorgeous day for an outside science experiment!
We concluded that the sun warmed up the sand and soil the most.  It warmed up the water the least.
