American Flag Cookies

We have been learning about the American flag.
We learned that the American flag is red, white, and blue.
Did you know that our flag has 50 stars?
It also has 13 stripes.
Betsy Ross made the first flag!
Her flag was made a long time ago and looked different from the current flag.
Betsy Ross came to visit us!  Click here to see photos.
We say the Pledge of Allegiance every day at school.
We have been working very hard to learn the words of the Pledge of Allegiance and put our right hand over our heart when we say it.
We had a lot of fun making our American flag cookies!  YUM!

Math Stations are SO Much Fun!

We have been learning about counting, patterns, sorting, and shapes in math!  We have so much fun playing partner games!
Dennis and Caden worked really well together!  Great counting, boys!
We love to count using unifix cubes on counting mats.
We also play, "I Have More!  I Have Less!" with the unifix cubes and counting mats.

Left-Right Tug is a fun game too!

We made pattern necklaces out of fruit loops!

Awesome job, Terrell and Shayla!
Viniya made an A,B,C pattern!

Bb is for...

Last week we learned all about the Letter Bb!  We learned what sound Bb makes, brainstormed words that begin with Bb on a banana and learned how to write capital and lowercase Bb.  We also learned how to read, write, and recognize the following Word Wall Words:  like, me.  We met two reading friends:  Lips the Fish and Eagle Eye!  Lips the Fish tells us to get our lips ready and Eagle Eye tells us to use our eyes to look for picture clues when we are reading.  Our new friends are very helpful!
Bb is for black beans!
We made paper chains to retell Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
Hannah did a great job retelling the story!

Retelling the story with partners
We LOVE to write and illustrate stories in our journals!  Bb is for bears.  We read Goldilocks and the Three Bears and wrote about our favorite character.
Vilica is very proud of her sentence!
Bb is for Betsy Ross!
Can you believe Betsy Ross arrived in a Time Machine from the past to teach us about the first American flag?
We helped Betsy count the stars on her first flag!
We compared the present day flag to the flag of the past.
Bb is for banana pudding!  YUM!
We helped pour in the pudding mix.
We helped pour in the milk.
We helped mix it all together.

We cut our own bananas with a plastic knife!
We mixed the pudding, bananas, and vanilla wafers.
Most importantly, we enjoyed eating our banana pudding!
